I spent an hour in Discount Tire this afternoon.

Caught up on my reading.  Read most of the articles in June 2005 Texas Monthly and I read the useful sections of today's Dallas Morning News.

Couple of things

DMN has reformated- again.  I understand print media is struggling to maintain readership.  I still like the newspaper.  Try to read it everyday.  I don't like the new magazine format the DMN has adopted for its lifestyle section.  Dumb.  But I do like the new GuideLive section!  Yeah, the name is confusing and doesn't really say much about what the section is all about but the section is pretty cool and fun.  I like "Over the Top."  They've put all the celeb gossip and cultural/critical observations up there.  The writing is smart, satirical and funny.  The section also includes all the concert/performance reviews, movie guide and anything else artsy related.  Good move, DMN, really!

Just an aside:  Ed Bark, the DMN TV reviewer is the best writer at the paper.  I love Ed Bark.  (See "Over the Top remark above).

Next.  Why do people tear out pages in magazines?  I'll be reading along at Discount Tire and all of a sudden a page is missing.  There was even a corner missing on one page.  I looked like someone tore off a bit to get rid of their wad of gum.  Are people clipping coupons out of the Texas Monthly?  Are they taking out the page with the picture of the ring encrusted with diamonds so they can run home and show their beloved that this is their Christmas wish?  Did they just get exuberant and start tugging too hard at the pages?

I just don't get this?  What are you looking for?

Per Carmella's response, it has been almost a full year since I've been to a movie.

That makes me sad, 'cause I love movies.

But it also makes me sad that no movie has been compelling enough to see.

But it makes me feel useful 'cause I've been too busy living to really need a good movie.

But it makes me feel old 'cause movie watching is what "the kids" do.

But it makes me feel not that old 'cause movies in the afternoon is what older ladies do- right before an early dinner 'cause they are too tired to see one after the 4:30 line at Super Salad.

In other news, I had a flat but today was different 'cause I let some guy help me even though I could have done it myself.

The weekend is here.

Let's all just take a deep breath.

We'll make through this together.

What?  You think weekends are supposed to be restful?

What's wrong with your life?

Did that sound harsh?

I probably should hit the backspace key.  Right?

Huntertx,

The mailman delivered your Entertainment Weekly to our house by mistake.  You can come get it if you want it.

By the way, 'dya ever see the Seinfeld where George gets the book flagged for taking it into the men's room?

I t looks like I need about an hour to catch up on the Greggorant xanga sub list.  I feel hopelessly behind.

So tell me, how are you doing anyway?

2nd Helping

So yes, as to rephrase according to Doc Boogie:

Truthfully, are you coping skills working afterall?

3rd Helping

So my coping skill of eating cookie dough straight from the big tub in the fridge is working really well- for now.

I'll check back with you in an hour.
